Wedding 1 - Cara and Liam - weekend back in the bay

What a great weekend to get back to the bay! With temperatures of at least 20 degrees (pretty good for the UK!) and cloudless blue skies really showed off the sea views and reminded me how lucky I was to grow up in this town! We had breakfast on the terrace, enjoying the sea view whilst munching on boiled eggs and soldiers!! Old school!

How do you like your eggs in the morning?

The perfect day for a wedding! A very old childhood friend of mine, Cara,  was tying the knot with her boyfriend Liam so my boyfriend Luke and I came down from London for the weekend to celebrate their special day. I of course ordered a new outfit, as we have a few weddings to attend this year I splashed out on a beautiful number from my favorite brand of the moment - Lavish Alice - I am hoping to wear it to all 3 weddings I am attending this summer as all of the guests (besides me and Luke) are from different circles, although I have kind of let the cat out of the bag in this post! sssh!! Details of where to buy are below, but hurry because the skirt is very popular, in fact I have been waiting for it to come back in stock for about 4 days, luckily they have an option to request an email alert when the item is back in stock! A-MA-ZING!! Another reason I keep going back to this brand!

The ceremony was at Cockington Church, a beautiful little Church in the middle of the ancient Cockington Village in Torquay. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces that I haven't seen for far too long! Katy Cooper, Kate Drew, Poppy Guest, Lucy Andrews and all of Cara's family it was so nice to see you all, I am glad you are all well and congratulations on your graduations and success!

Us girls, just like old times!

The bride arrived on time and didn't leave the groom to sweat for too long! She looked gorgeous in a strapless number that fitted her stunning figure like a designer glove, followed by 2 elegant bridesmaids in similar style purple dresses. The groomsmen looked handsome in their grey suits and matching purple ties. Even Cara's little boy Jack was dressed to the nines in his own little 3 piece ensemble.

After the reading of the vows and the signing of the marriage register the newly wed couple lead the emotional crowd outside to pose for photos against the fairytale Cockington backdrop.

DO NOT DROP HER!!

Beautiful Bride

They were then whisked away in a beautiful black Rolls Royce owned by Keith Richardson of the Richardson Hotel group and taken to the reception and evening do at the Grosvenor Hotel in Torquay (also owned by the Richardson group) just a short walk from the sea front and surrounded by the luscious gardens or Torre Abbey. And yes, before you ask it is the same hotel as featured on Channel 4s 'The Hotel'. Unfortunately we did not get to see Mark Jenkins!

Or visit one of the other fantastic luxury Richardson Hotels in many gorgeous locations (including the Grand Hotel Torquay and Fowey in Cornwall where the couple are honeymooning).

We arrived at the evening do just as the first dance got underway, their song choice was 'A Thousand Years' originally by Christina Perry but sung by Tanner Patrick for the Twilight film, however I think my favourite version is actually Nicholas Mcdonald's from The X Factor!

Here they are dancing away, their 2 children wanted to get involved too!

BFFs!

We spent the rest of the weekend soaking up the sun and enjoying the slow moving pace of the South West. We enjoyed barbeque lunches along with bottles of white wine, greek salads (my favourite kind of salad) and of course no British summer would be completed without a jug of Pimms!

We even had a family game of crazy golf or 'put put' as the Kiwis call it. My Mum won again! That's now 4-0 to Mrs Crispin! Here's a few pictures of the course at Jungle Journey adventure Golf at Torre Abbey in Torquay, £5.50 per game for adults.

Although my Dad came last he certainly got his eye in by the last hole, managing to score a hole in one and win a free game!!!

See if you can beat our scores! http://www.junglejourney.co.uk/

Of course if you play crazy golf, make sure you have a refreshment afterwards at One World just opposite the entrance, one of my favourite cafes in the bay! You can read about it further in my previous blog - Easter Eggstravaganza part 2, or just visit for yourself!

All my blogging about Torbay, have you had a chance to visit yet?

  1. Hope your wedding party was enjoyed by all. It's something very important and every couple wants to make it special to the eternity. Dinner for engagement party of my friend was fabulous. Décor and entrance of Chicago wedding venues were beautified with flowers and hangings. Table management was also nice.
