New Zealand day 8

Today we took the opportunity to explore the neighbourhoods that make up Auckland.

We stopped for brunch in St Heliers at a sea front restaurant called Moreton's. It was actually really warm say in the sun on the ocean front, I ate a good old fashioned burger - no salad, no dressing, definitely no gherkin just the cow and the cheese in a bun! Simples!

We then took a drive around Mission Bay which is home to a lot of lovely large houses with sea views. I originally thought if I lived in New Zealand I would live in Ponsonby but I take that back now, I'll have me a mansion in Mission Bay thanks!

By this time I needed to re-energise with something sweet so we headed via Mount Wellington to Movenpick - the best ice cream company! It's like Subway for ice cream. First you choose your flavours, then which style of cone you want and finally the toppings. I opted for a simple vanilla with hundreds and thousands and Luke had a chocolate milkshake. Mmmmmm

We then headed into Auckland City to catch up with a good friend Kane who used to live in London. We had a few drinks at Garrisons in St Sylvia shopping mall. Whilst walking through the mall it was nice to see some familiar brands!

Time really flew today and by the time we left it was 10pm (I thought it was about 7pm thinking we could go for a nice meal, then I remembered we aren't in London and everything shuts about 9.30). So we were left with the option of fast food and stumbled across a dominos pizza. Totally not the same as back home but the peri peri chicken was pretty damn good!
